DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, the De Pere Health Department is providing free emergency preparedness tools.
Weather radios and emergency preparedness guides will be available to all City of De Pere residents, at no cost. Each household is limited to one radio and one guide.
To collect your items, visit the Health Department — located in De Pere City Hall at 335 S. Broadway — during regular business hours and bring proof of residence. Verify if you’re a City of De Pere resident using this link and clicking the official city map. The offer begins 7:30 a.m. Monday and runs through 11 a.m. April 12, or while supplies last.
“Severe Weather Awareness Week serves as a crucial reminder of the importance of being prepared for severe weather events and other emergencies,” said Deputy Health Officer and Public Health Preparedness Coordinator Sara Lornson. “By offering these preparedness tools, the De Pere Health Department aims to empower residents to take proactive steps to ensure their safety and wellbeing during times of crisis.”
Officials say the weather radios have been pre-programmed to the NOAA weather frequency for our area to ensure residents are equipped to receive timely weather updates and alerts when severe weather arises.
The preparedness guide, titled “What To Do When Disaster Threatens”, offers key information and resources to help individuals and families plan for emergency situations.
Contact the De Pere Health Department at 920-339-4054 or visit their website for more information or with questions.
