(WTAQ-WLUK) — A Fond du Lac resident lost his hunting privileges for three years after being convicted of multiple hunting violations.
The investigation into Ricky D. Zech, 66, began with a citizen call to the DNR Violation Hotline.
“The confidential information provided was about Mr. Zech’s multiple violations stemming from the 2020 seasons,” said DNR Conservation Warden William Hankee.
The violations investigated included illegal baiting, shooting multiple deer without registering any, hunting with a rifle during muzzleloader season, not wearing blaze orange and providing false information to a warden.
Zech also used his influence with his hunting party of at least four individuals to commit similar violations of not registering deer nor following other regulations. Zech’s pattern of providing false information to Warden Hankee also contributed to the length of the case and investigation.
If you spot a potential violation against the environment, wildlife or during a recreational activity, call or text 1-800-TIP-WDNR or 1-800-847-9367. Trained dispatchers will take your information and relay it to the appropriate responder.
