MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Wisconsinites are being priced out of buying a home.
Joe Peterangelo with the Wisconsin Policy forum says local communities need to do more to allow for denser home construction.
“Local communities can change their zoning, that can allow for more housing to be developed, and more variety of housing to be developed at different price points,” said Peterangelo.
A new Policy Forum report says the average price of a home went up 51 percent over the last five years, vastly outpacing the average income increase of 19 percent.
