GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — More than 300 charitable organizations in Wisconsin scored big last year, thanks to the Green Bay Packers Foundation.
During a luncheon and ceremony held Wednesday at Lambeau Field, the Foundation recognized 321 nonprofits for their “outstanding efforts and services” in Brown County and around the state.
A record-breaking $1.5 million in funds was donated in 2023. Last year’s grant cycle focused on programs working in the areas of the elderly, homelessness, human services and hunger.
“It is really inspiring what you’re doing and you all should be commended for that,” Packers President & CEO Mark Murphy said.
We’re community-owned, and we wouldn’t be here were it not for the support of our community over the years. It’s been tremendous and it’s a great partnership… Honoring that support and giving back is part of our core as an organization.
One of the grant recipients is CASA of Brown County, which recruits and trains volunteers — called Court Appointed Special Advocates — to support abused and/or neglected kids until their court case is closed and they have found a safe permanent home.
Philanthropy Director Marissa Heim said she is grateful for the spotlight the Packers are putting on CASA of Brown County and the work it is doing.
“We are just super thankful and excited to be a part of this and just very honored and thankful for the support of our community,” Heim said.
The Foundation’s 2024 grant cycle will be open to nonprofits focused on the areas of arts and culture, athletics and education. 2025’s cycle will apply to nonprofits working in the areas of animal welfare, civic and community, environmental, and health and wellness, including drug/alcohol and domestic violence.
