DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A pet dog was rescued from a house fire in De Pere.
Just after 8 a.m. Tuesday, crews were dispatched to a report of a house fire at 2265 Glen Meadows Circle.
When crews arrived on scene, they found smoke and flames coming from the back side of the house.
Crews were able locate and extinguish the fire on the outside on the backside of the house quickly.
No one was home at the time of the fire but a pet dog was rescued by an off-duty firefighter prior to the fire department’s arrival.
No one was hurt.
The fire was caused by hot embers from a recreational fire being too close to the house and other combustible materials.
The total damage to all items involved was estimated at $15,000.
Firefighters are reminding the community that it’s important to make sure recreational fires are completely extinguished before leaving it unattended and dispose of any ashes or materials into a metal type container once they are cooled down.
