TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Dozens of people gathered for a vigil Saturday evening in Two Rivers for missing three-year-old Elijah Vue.
He still hasn’t been found after an Amber Alert was issued for him on February 20th.
Police did not provide any new updates over the weekend.
Vue lives in Wisconsin Dells with his mother, but was staying with her boyfriend in Two Rivers when he disappeared.
The mother and boyfriend are both being held on child neglect charges. Both are due back in court this upcoming week.
People who’ve been searching for Elijah the last few weeks were there and helped organize the gathering.
“The volunteers are getting slimmer and it’s evident when you don’t haves results it’s easy to lose that hope, so this is just kind of bringing everybody back together,” said Jordan Dillon who helps lead searches in Fond du Lac for Elijah.
Blue lights and candles were passed out for people to light and hold as they listened to community leaders talk about the search efforts.
“We assure you the search for Elijah is a top priority of the Two Rivers Police Department and all the agencies involved,” said Captain Patrick Krajnik of the Two Rivers Fire Department. “They are exploring all tips and possibilities to locate Elijah and will leave no stone unturned.”
“I know that we won’t stop and that we can’t stop until Elijah is brought home,” said Adam Wachowski, the president of Two Rivers’ city council. “Elijah, if you can hear this on TV, know we are looking everywhere for you.”
Police said on Friday they followed up on numerous tips and leads and, with the help of state and federal authorities, are looking through large amounts of video submitted. Police have asked the public to check surveillance cameras for video of a beige Nissan Altima that may be connected to the case.
Police are asking the public to keep safety in mind during searches. Anything found that may be related to the case should be reported by calling 1-844-267-6648 or through Manitowoc County Crime Stoppers online.
Rewards totaling $40,000 are being offered in the case.
Elijah Vue is described as having dark blond hair and brown eyes. He is about three feet tall, weighs about 45 pounds and has a birthmark on his left knee.
