GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Aurora BayCare Medical Center withdrew its plans for a 13-acre solar farm, just hours before a scheduled public hearing on the project Friday.
The hospital proposed a 5,000-panel solar array would be placed just to the east of its hospital, on the southwest corner of Greenbrier and Ontario roads. The site is currently an empty field.
The Green Bay Plan Commission had a public hearing and vote scheduled for Friday, but at the start of the meeting, city staff said the hospital withdrew the request for the conditional use permit late Thursday night. No reason was provided.
The initial plan received a luke-warm response from city staff – though they did recommend approval – and at least one would-be neighbor already raised concerns to the city.
