FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A newly-expanded Fond du Lac hospital has set an opening date.
Aurora Medical Center – Fond du Lac, located at 210 Wisconsin American Drive, is scheduled to open its doors for patient care on Monday, May 6.
A community open house is scheduled for April 25 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Construction on the 70,000-square foot addition to the existing site began in 2022 and is now in the final stages.
Now 185,000 square feet, the addition will consist of an 8-bay emergency department, 10 overnight stay beds for patients needing orthopedic, general and abdominal surgeries, an operating and recovery area, pharmacy, diagnostics and lab. The space will comprise more than 65 clinicians representing 28 medical specialties including urgent care, physical therapy and outpatient surgery.
Patients who require acute sub-specialty care such as labor and delivery services, cardiac catheterization or interventional stroke treatment, will continue to receive care at the closest hospital including Aurora Medical Center – Oshkosh or other larger Aurora Health Care facilities.
