GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Five new businesses are planned for the former site of Sears on Green Bay’s west side.
The developer hasn’t revealed which businesses will be going in yet, but they will line Military Avenue back-to-back.
A Club Car Wash has already been built on a portion of the property.
Sears closed in 2018 and the building was torn down a year-and-a-half ago.
Leah Weycker, executive director of the Military Avenue Business District, says it will be great to see new life on the site.
“I was thinking about the opportunity to locate on Military Ave is rare and those sites I’m sure are getting great response,” said Weycker.
The summer farmers market on Military will be relocating to the former Shopko site as a result of the incoming development.
The city’s Redevelopment Authority provided preliminary approval Tuesday for the area’s Tax Increment Finance District to pay for up to $122,500 of the cost to put in water lines for the five new business sites.
