DENMARK, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — There’s new water on tap in Denmark.
The village celebrated Tuesday its new water supply from the Central Brown County Water Authority’s water distribution system.
The system supplies water from Lake Michigan to multiple communities, including Allouez, Bellevue, De Pere, Howard, Lawrence and Ledgeview.
The water is treated and pumped by Manitowoc Public Utilities in Manitowoc through a 65-mile long pipeline to each member community.
Work began last year to include the village of Denmark.
Village leaders say this system will supply abundant, quality drinking water to meet the community’s growing needs.
With the switch, residents won’t have to use as much water softener and the village won’t have to flush its mains out as often because there will be less iron build up.
Denmark is the first community to join the authority since its inception in 1999.
