TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Two Rivers police clarified a vehicle of interest in the case of missing Elijah Vue is not owned by the child’s mother or her boyfriend.
On Monday, police released images of a 1997 four-door beige Nissan Altima connected to the case.
The vehicle is currently in possession of police. It has a Wisconsin license plate beginning with the letter ‘A’ and ending with the number zero (0).
Authorities are asking the community to review surveillance camera footage captured on Feb. 19 between 2 and 9 p.m. for any sign of the vehicle. This is the day before three-year-old Vue was reported missing.
“Our interest is not with the current owner of the vehicle, only in the camera footage captured on February 19, 2024, between the hours of 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM,” police wrote on social media.
Police did not reveal any further details on why the vehicle is a part of the investigation.
If you have footage of the vehicle, you can upload it here. Anyone who experiences technical difficulties or does not have access to upload their video should call the tip line at 1-844-267-6648.
There was a law enforcement presence Tuesday at the Hope Community Church in Manitowoc. Two Rivers police said they are using the church as a space for operations.
While finding Vue is the top priority, the search efforts come with a price tag. Two Rivers City Manager Greg Buckley says the annual police budget is about $3.7 million. Included within the budget is a $150,000 overtime allowance.
Buckley says an exact cost in the search for Vue is currently unknown.
“Obviously the search and ongoing investigation are job one, but we’re mindful of that and we’re looking at options going forward because there will be expenses significantly exceeding what is typical for us,” said Buckley.
Buckley emphasized the importance of finding Vue and completing the investigation. He also says more than $5,000 has been raised through donations.
“This is indeed a community response to a tough, tough set of circumstances,” said Buckley.

Vue, 3, became the subject of an Amber Alert after he disappeared Feb. 20. Vue’s mother, Katrina Baur, and her boyfriend, Jesse Vang, have both been jailed on charges of child neglect. Prosecutors allege Vue was staying at Vang’s home in Two Rivers for “disciplinary reasons” when he disappeared.
The FBI is offering a $15,000 reward for any information leading to the location and return of Elijah Vue and/or the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) involved in his disappearance.
Vue is described as having dark blonde hair and brown eyes. He is about three feet tall, weighs about 45 pounds and has a birth mark on his left knee. If you find something you think may be related to the investigation, you are asked to immediately contact the state tip line at 1-844-267-6648 or TRPD at 1-920-686-7200.
