SHEBOYGAN, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a Sheboygan County chase, while the search continues for another suspect.
According to the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Dept., an officer stopped a vehicle on State 32 and County FF in the town of Herman about 11:22 p.m. Saturday. The vehicle then fled the scene, and a pursuit ensued.
The suspect vehicle stopped a second time, near County M and County Line Road. The passenger got out of the car, fired at officers, and ran from the scene. The officers were not hurt.
“Additional resources were used to ensure the safety of responding officers. Members of the Sheboygan County and Manitowoc Drone Teams were dispatched to aid with the apprehension of the subject. As the drone was approaching the area they believed the subject to have fled, responding officers heard a distant gunshot,” the release states.
The vehicle’s driver, Mario Doyle Jr., 28, is still wanted by police. Anyone with information is asked to call police.
“The public should not attempt to approach Mario as he should be considered dangerous.The Sheriff’s Office has located the suspect vehicle locally,” according to the release.
