TWO RIVERS, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – As the search for a three-year-old missing from Two Rivers extends into its 10th day, the goal remains the same: to bring Elijah Vue home safely.
Volunteer searches were out once again with the little boy’s family Wednesday as local, state and federal authorities continue to work the case. Neither law enforcement nor Vue’s family were willing to speak with the media, instead focusing their efforts on bringing Vue home.
In a news release Wednesday, the Two Rivers Police Department said it has “seen an increase in tips and information” after the announcement that a reward of up to $15,000 is being offered by the FBI.
Additionally, TRPD said Wednesday it expanded its “urban and rural neighborhood canvass and continued searches of our waterways and shoreline.” K9s were out checking and re-checking various areas as well, officials said.
From the Kwik Trip in Two Rivers to businesses in Manitowoc, it’s hard to go anywhere in Manitowoc County and not see Elijah Vue’s face on a missing person poster.
His family, after Tuesday night’s emotional news conference, decided not to take a day off from organizing search parties, as they’d originally planned to do, and instead continued to dispatch volunteers from the Mikadow Theater in Manitowoc.
“If you have any information, please come forward. We believe, with the help of the community, we can bring Elijah back home together,” Elijah’s aunt, Linda Vue, said Tuesday.
Volunteers tackled several areas in Manitowoc County Wednesday, as they have for 10 days now, refusing to give up searching for Vue. Meanwhile, law enforcement from Fond du Lac and Trempeleau counties were working out of the Shoto Town Hall as part of the investigation.
Although the Two Rivers Police Department is leading the investigation, it is being assisted by local, state and federal agencies — along with private businesses and organizations.
“We’re reached out to hundreds and hundreds of resources over this week’s timespan and they’re all dedicated to bringing him home and we’ll continue to follow up on on any leads to do so,” said TRPD Chief Ben Meinnert in Tuesday’s press conference.
Law enforcement is still asking for the public’s help to put together a timeline of when Elijah was last seen. Once of the biggest questions that remains is when was the last time someone other than Jesse Vang — the boyfriend of Elijah’s mother, Katrina Baur, saw Vue.
What I will say is, the reason we’ve been seeking out to the public with all the information that we are is because we are following up on every lead, tip, etc. and that is one of those things. We want to know every time, any time, that Elijah was seen during this past week. So, we will continue to follow up on all leads, any leads, and that’s what’s leading us into the locations that we’ve been,” Meinnert said Tuesday.
FOX 11 heard back from the FBI Wednesday about their involvement in the Elijah Vue case. We were told they continue to assist local and state agencies, and want to remind the public about the $15,000 reward for any information leading to the location and return of Elijah Vue and/or the arrest and conviction of the individual(s) involved in his disappearance.
Vue was reportedly last seen by Vang at 8 a.m. Feb. 20. He is described as having dark blonde hair and brown eyes. He is about three feet tall, weighs about 45 pounds and has a birth mark on his left knee.
