MANITOWOC COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Katrina Baur, identified by relatives as the mother of Elijah Vue, a boy missing from Two Rivers, could be in court as soon as Friday on requested charges of being party to child neglect.
Jesse Vang, whose address in court records matches where the boy was last seen, is expected in court on a requested charge of child neglect.
No formal charges have been filed. Typically, Manitowoc County holds a bond hearing and then files criminal charges before an initial appearance. A court appearance scheduled for Thursday was canceled less than two hours before it was supposed to start.
Vue, 3, was reported missing Tuesday. He is the subject of an Amber Alert.
The boy is described as having sandy brown hair and brown eyes. He is about three feet tall, weighs about 45 pounds and has a birth mark on his left knee. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a long-sleeved dark-colored shirt and red and green dinosaur slip-on shoes. Vue may be carrying a red and white plaid blanket seen in one of the photos released by police.
Authorities have asked neighbors to check outbuildings, vehicles or other concealed areas on their property. Those with doorbell cameras are also asked to check to see if Vue shows up on the video. However, police are requesting people not to use their own drones to search, as they could interfere with law enforcement drones.
Community members have been pulling together in their own searches for the boy. A search party was held Wednesday morning and a prayer vigil was held Wednesday night at St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish.
Anyone with information regarding Vue’s whereabouts is asked to call (920) 686-7200.
