OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — February is Career Technical Education Month.
“While it’s recognized in February, it truly is that daily commitment and the answer to the nations projected deficit of 6.5 million skilled workers,” said Tania Kilpatrick, director of the CESA 6.
Career and technical education breaks down into 16 different career clusters; including business, education, and healthcare.
CESA 6 College and Career Readiness along with Inspire Wisconsin and Youth Apprenticeship Wisconsin are working to build a recruitment channel between students and businesses. That means students can get on-the-job work experience.
“We know that over 64% of students indicate that they choose a specific career because of an interpersonal interaction they may have had,” said Kilpatrick.
