CHILTON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Officials announced the man who suffered critical injuries during a fire in Chilton has died.
Around 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, the Chilton Fire Department and first responders were dispatched to N4463 County BB for a structure fire. Personnel and water were brought in from neighboring communities to help fight the blaze.
The garage was fully involved with fire that was extending into the home on the second floor and threatening surrounding structures on the property. The garage contained flammable and combustible liquids that accelerated the fire.
Crews were able to stop the fire on the second floor of the home and protect the surrounding buildings. The fire was contained within 30 minutes of firefighters’ arrival.
One man, now identified as Timothy Bangart of Chilton, “sustained significant life-threatening burns” as a result of the fire. He was taken by ambulance to the ThedaCare by Ascension Calumet, then flown to the UW Health Burn and Wound Center in Madison. He died Tuesday evening, officials said.
