SHAWANO COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Authorities say they developed leads in the case of a dog found shot in the face and left for dead in Shawano County.
Atley the dog was found near Olsen Road and County C last week, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
While Atley has been getting treatment and staying with a foster family, the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
On Tuesday, officials released this statement in part:
We understand there is a great deal of frustration, and anger about this case, but we can assure everyone that our office is working on this case. There were no witnesses to this, which makes it a difficult case in its entirety. Fortunately, we have received some information from neighbors, as well as information called into the sheriff’s office. The deputy who is investigating this matter has developed leads, that we hope will further the investigation and find out who is responsible for this horrific incident. Please be patient with us as we continue to work on this case. At this time, due to this investigation being active, we are not releasing any further information or possible names involved as we do not want to jeopardize this investigation.
No one has come forward to claim Atley.
