(WTAQ-WLUK) — The 10th day of the 2024 sturgeon season didn’t prove too fruitful for spearers Monday.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources reports 14 total sturgeon were harvested between Lake Winnebago and the Upriver Lakes.
Lake Winnebago saw 10 sturgeon speared on Monday with 2 juvenile females, 3 adult females and 5 males.
On the Upriver Lakes of Butte des Morts, Winneconne and Poygan, there were 4 sturgeon taken with 1 juvenile female, 1 adult female and 2 males.
The biggest fish of the day came from the Southwest registration station – a 69.3-pound, 79.6-inch, M1 male speared by Steven Hungerford on Lake Winnebago.

After day 10 of the season, a total of 367 sturgeon have been harvested with 59 juvenile females, 120 adult females and 188 males.
Tuesday, the Poygan registration station on the Upriver Lakes will be closed, but the Indian Point and Winneconne registrations will remain open. The Neenah, Stockbridge and Quinney registration stations will remain closed on Lake Winnebago.
