GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A woman who fired shots at an Ashwaubenon apartment in an argument about a cat was sentenced to a year in jail.
Adriana Stephens, 21, pleaded no contest to discharging a firearm at a building for the Jan. 15, 2022 incident. She was also placed on probation for six years at Tuesday’s sentencing by Judge Kendall Kelley, court records show.
Witnesses reported hearing a gunshot. Police found a second-floor patio door was smashed, with a hole in it.
One woman said they decided to go a woman’s apartment to talk about a cat. “Stephens stated she drove to the Holmgren Way apartments to get a cat, but the cat was not there,” according to the complaint.
Stephens said one of the women involved had once pulled a gun on her, so she was afraid for the safety of her and a friend.
“Stephens felt this was her opportunity to self-defend and she felt (the woman) was going to come down the stairs. Stephens stated this caused her to fire her 9mm Smith & Wesson handgun out the front passenger side window towards (her) patio,” the complaint says.
No one was injured in the incident.
