OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A multi-state footwear company headquartered in Wisconsin more than half a century ago has been sold.
Shoe Carnival, Inc. announced Tuesday it acquired Rogan’s Shoes for the purchase price of $45 million. In a news release, Shoe Carnival said the acquisition of Rogan’s “advances [its] strategy to be the nation’s leading family footwear retailer.”
It goes on to say the purchase “immediately positions [Shoe Carnival] as the market leader in Wisconsin, and it establishes a store base in Minnesota, creating additional expansion opportunities.”
Rogan’s was formed in Racine in 1971 by Jack Rogan, who grew his family shoe store concept to 28 locations in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Illinois. Nearly a dozen of those stores are located in Northeast Wisconsin.
“I am excited about the new opportunities for Rogan’s as it becomes part of the Shoe Carnival family,” said CEO Pat Rogan. “We share a strong focus on customers and employees and this transaction provides the additional scale and expertise to drive future growth, create efficiencies and expand profitability with that shared focus as the foundation.”
President and CEO of Shoe Carnival Mark Worden praised Rogan’s Shoes’ work and impact over the last 53 years.
“The Rogan family has built a brand that is well known and trusted throughout the state of Wisconsin. As such, they have established a clear market leadership position in Wisconsin for work and family footwear, with a compelling assortment, great customer service, and a highly committed team of employees.”
Rogan’s Internet operations are based in Oshkosh. Its website states it employs more than 600 workers.
