GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A historic downtown Green Bay hotel is looking for collaboration from the community as it prepares to celebrate its 100-year anniversary.
Hotel Northland is seeking memorabilia that might have taken place at the hotel over the past century.
Items can include wedding photos, old plates, silverware, garments, stationary and ashtrays.
“So we’re looking forward to the community’s support and involvement in donating some of their items that they have, maybe from the past when they used to work here back in the 30s, 40s, 50s, 60s and we’re actually going to be displaying that in our display boxes in our lobby and some of our other public spaces,” said Hotel Northland’s director of sales, Brandon Flitter.
The items will be on display for the public to see from March through September.
If you have items to donate, call Flitter at (920) 791-0135.
The hotel is planning two public events as part of its centennial celebration.
The first one is a public open house, birthday party on March 19. It will feature tours, history presentations, food and beverages.
And in September, it will hold a formal RSVP event with a portion of the proceeds going back to the community.
The hotel’s restaurant, the Walnut Room, will also feature special 1920 menu items throughout the year.
Hotel Northland, on N. Adams Street, first opened in March of 1924 as Wisconsin’s largest hotel. In 1979, the hotel closed and operated as Port Plaza Towers, a home for seniors and disabled people before being restored.
