APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A woman is in custody after police say her 2-year-old daughter died of a fentanyl overdose.
Outagamie County Jail records show Brooke Seal, 28, was booked into the jail Wednesday on a requested charge of neglecting a child – consequence is death. Formal charges have not been filed. She is expected to appear in court Friday, according to the Outagamie County District Attorney’s office.
The victim has been identified as Rosalie Garcia, who lived with Seal in Freedom, according to Outagamie County Sheriff Lt. Nathan Borman.
“The level of fentanyl in her system was sufficient to cause the death of a grown adult,” Borman said.
Borman did not say how the child accessed or ingested the drugs.
Additional arrests may be forthcoming, he said.
On Jan. 6, the Outagamie County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence on Liberty Lane in the Town of Freedom for a report of a 2-year-old child who was not breathing. Deputies and first responders arrived and rendered aid to the child. The child was transported to a local hospital however efforts to save the child were unsuccessful.
