MISHICOT, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Another annual ice fishing event in Northeast Wisconsin has been called off.
Unseasonably warm temperatures have wreaked havoc on outdoor winter sports and activities this season, with the latest example being the Harpt’s Lake Ice Fishing Derby. On Wednesday, it was announced the ice fishing portion of the event, which was scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, has been canceled. It’s now being rebranded as the 41st Annual “No Fishing” Derby.
Organizers said the remainder of the festival, which begins Thursday evening and runs through Sunday afternoon, will still go on as planned. Attendees are invited to participate in raffles, meals, karaoke and a Friday fish fry.
