(UW ATHLETICS) DULUTH, MINN – The No. 2 Wisconsin women’s hockey team extended its winning streak to eight games thanks to 2-1 win over No. 7 Minnesota Duluth on Friday afternoon at AMSOIL Arena.
Casey O’Brien and Lacey Eden each found the back of the net as the Badgers (21-4-0, 15-4-0-0-1-0 WCHA) battled to take down the Bulldogs (13-9-2, 10-8-0-1-0-0 WCHA) in a top-10 showdown.
Wisconsin struck first when O’Brien capitalized on the rebound, lifting the Badgers to a 1-0 advantage with 13:29 left in the second frame.
UMD answered back just over a minute later to make it 1-1 headed into the final period.
The Badgers found the back of the net early in the third as Eden scored on the power play with 19 minutes left to give UW a 2-1 advantage.
Jane Gervais stopped 20 of the shots she faced for her 11th win of the year.
Three Notes of the Game
– Casey O’Brien tallied her 40th point of the season, marking the 10th game in a row that the forward has scored a point.
– Lacey Eden lit the lamp for the 20th time this season, joining fellow winger Kirsten Simms in the 20 goal club.
– The Badgers advance to 59-37-16 all-time against the Bulldogs, including a 15-6-1 record since 2018-19.
