OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A decision on what will become of the Washington Elementary School site after it closes this spring will have to wait, as the Oshkosh Area School District didn’t get any proposals for the location.
The school, at 929 Washington Avenue, will close at the end of the 2023-2024 school year, with Oshkosh’s new Menominee Elementary School set to open for the 2024-2025 school year.
The district put out what’s known as a “request for proposals” for the site, with an anticipated decision this week on which offer to pursue. However, no plans were submitted, said district spokesperson Katie Nieman.
“However, the District is keeping the RFP open and will continue to accept and evaluate any proposals submitted. District leaders are also continuing discussions with local partners regarding options for the property,” she said.
There is no set timetable for a decision.
