It was a big New Year’s weekend for both the Green Bay Phoenix men’s and women’s basketball teams, sweeping all four home games. The Ladies made it five straight with a 72-46 rout of Purdue Fort Wayne at the Kress Center Monday afternoon. Maddie Schreiber led the way with 19 points. Cassie Schiltz poured in a career high 27 in Green Bay’s 85-72 win over Cleveland State in a rematch of last year’s Horizon League tournament championship game won by the Vikings last March. The Phoenix women are now 10-3 on the year and a perfect 3-0 in conference play. They’ll head to Northern Kentucky on Friday night.
The Green Bay men won both of their matinee games at the Resch Center, beating Wright State 88-77 on Friday with Noah Reynolds going off for a career high 39 points. On Sunday, GB handled Robert Morris 78-61 with Reynolds continuing his strong play with 27 points. The Phoenix are off to a surprising 3-1 start in Horizon League play, 8-7 overall. The men also hit the road for a date with Detroit Mercy on Thursday night.
