Milwaukee Brewers General Manager Matt Arnold called his old boss and made a trade on Wednesday. Arnold and former Brewers GM David Stearns, now the president of baseball operations for the New York Mets completed a deal that will send veteran pitcher Adrian Houser and outfielder Tyrone Taylor to the Mets in exchange for minor league pitching prospect Coleman Crow. Houser was a stable arm for the Brewers over the past couple of seasons, going 8-5 with a 4.12 ERA over 111 innings last season. Taylor played in 81 games for the Crew, hitting .234 with 10 home runs on the year. Playing time moving forward might get dicey for Taylor as the Brewers have several young outfield prospects like Sal Frelick, Joey Wiemer, Garrett Mitchell and Jackson Chourio. Crow was considered one of the top pitching prospects in the New York organization. He’s just 22 but has already undergone Tommy John surgery. That took place last season after Crow went 2-0 with a 1.88 ERA in four appearances for the Mets Double AA club. Crow is expected to fully recover by mid-season.
