MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — Wisconsin U.S. Senator Ron Johnson is calling for a special conference to discuss border security.
Johnson has joined 15 other GOP Senators who want to wait until the second week of 2024 to join White House and Senate Democrats to discuss making the southern border more secure.
At a Friday event in Oshkosh, Johnson said the openness of the border has led to the increase of fentanyl in Wisconsin.
“This is a flood of people that are from a different culture, that don’t speak our language, that are far too many of them are dealing in drugs,” said Johnson. “This is going to be a problem that we’re going to have to deal with for years and years.”
President Biden has said he wants more money for the border as part of a larger package that also includes aid to Israel and Ukraine.
