GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Green Bay firefighters helped ignite holiday joy for patients at HSHS St. Vincent Children’s Hospital.
On Tuesday, firefighters surprised children in their hospital rooms with gifts collected by members of Central Church in Green Bay.
Thanks to the generous donations, the holidays came early for 15 children.
“We just hope to be a blessing to them. It’s difficult for kids to be in the hospital over the holidays and for their families and so we just want to bring a little holiday cheer and wish them a Merry Christmas,” says Aaron Schaut, lead pastor at Central Church.
This gave children the opportunity to see and interact with the firefighters in some of their gear. Even Santa took some time from his busy holiday schedule to greet the children.
The annual firefighter’s visit was started by a previous Chaplain with the Green Bay Metro. Fire Department and has continued for 10 years.
