GRAND CHUTE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – The employee who was killed in an industrial accident Tuesday at a Grand Chute manufacturer was a Kaukauna man.
The Outagamie County Coroner’s Office says Francis L. Wolfinger, 57, died in the incident. An autopsy was performed, the coroner’s office confirmed.
The Grand Chute Fire Department says it was called to Konz Wood Products, 616 N. Perkins St., around 3:40 a.m. Tuesday. When they arrived, paramedics found Wolfinger on the floor with traumatic injuries. The fire department did not release more details about his injuries, except to say that he was not entrapped or entangled in any machinery.
Wolfinger was taken to the hospital, where he died.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration has been called in to investigate.
Konz issued this statement Wednesday:
“In the early morning hours of December 5, 2023, a long-term and valuable member of the Konz team lost his life due to an industrial accident. The company and all of its employees wish to express their deepest condolences to the family.
In order to respect the privacy of the family, the name of the deceased will not be released at the present time. Additionally, the accident is still under investigation, no further details will be forthcoming until such time as the investigation being conducted by OSHA and the company has been completed.
All employees have been offered the opportunity to receive grief counseling through the company EAP provider.
The company wishes to thank the Grand Chute first responders and Grand Chute police department for their immediate and professional response to the accident.”
