WILD ROSE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Two people are receiving medical treatment, one of whom was flight-lifted, after a fire at Wild Rose Middle/High School on Thursday.
According to a Facebook post from the Wild Rose Fire District, firefighters were dispatched to the school for “a roof-top fire on the active construction site at Wild Rose Middle/High School” around 2:12 p.m.
Families were notified of an early school closure. No students or staff were injured in the incident and will return to school as scheduled tomorrow. Two employees of a subcontractor are being medically treated—one has been flight-lifted and one is being treated locally.
Officials say the cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation. Professionals remained on site throughout the night to ensure the fire does not reignite.
“The project team is cooperating with local authorities to investigate the damage. Our main concern at this time is for the individuals involved, their families, and the team members onsite,” the post reads.
A spokesperson for ThedaCare confirmed to FOX 11 that the ThedaStar medical helicopter was dispatched to the school for an incident and took one person.
Classes are scheduled to resume today. (FRI)
