BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – An 18-year-old is dead after a crash in Brown County.
Officials say it happened Saturday night in New Franken.
The 54-year-old man was seriously injured from an accident and could not tell rescue personal the exact location where it occurred except it was deep in the woods. According to officials, he said an 18-year-old passenger was still in the vehicle. After a short search of the wooded area, the crash site was found by deputies on the north side of the roadway near 5872 Sturgeon Bay Rd.
The 18-year-old passenger was found inside the vehicle deceased. The 54-year-old male was later transported to a Green Bay area hospital due to his serious injuries.
Officials say the investigation showed the two parties were traveling north bound on STH 57 in a 2010 Ford Expedition when they hit a deer which went through the front windshield into the passenger compartment.
The vehicle then entered the median, exited crossing both south bound lanes of STH 57, entered the north ditch and continued through the right of way fence. The vehicle continued off the roadway striking a tree which caused it to come to a final rest on its side approximately 60ft from the roadway.
Alcohol is not suspected to be involved in the cause of the crash. Currently, all names are being withheld pending Family notifications.
The Brown County Sheriff’s Office is completing the investigation.
