ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A day after providing free meals to Veterans, an Ashwaubenon restaurant is now expected to be closed for a while after a fire Sunday afternoon.
Ashwaubenon Public Safety says the fire started outside Mission BBQ on Oneida Street. The fire made its way through the restaurant wall and into the ceiling area, which caused crews to knock out chunks of the ceiling.
Fire officials say the fire was near the smoker outside, but they aren’t sure yet if that is where it started.
There is no word yet on the cost of the damage or when the restaurant might be able to reopen, but Tom Baxter with Ashwaubenon Public Safety says he believes it will be a while considering the extensive damage.
