ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — Green Bay’s police officers and firefighters usually work together, but the departments were opponents Monday in a friendly Salvation Army bell ring-off.
Green Bay Police Department Chief Chris Davis and Green Bay Metro Fire Department Chief Matthew Knott each represented their departments in the bell-ringing, bucket-filling competition.
It was part of an effort to support the Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay’s 2023 Red Kettle Campaign, which kicked off last week.
“The Salvation Army does great things in our community. They help a lot of people each and every day. They’re always there for us in the event of a disaster, they’re always there to respond. It’s just a little thing we can do to help them help all of us,” Chief Knott explained.
“The generosity of our community always shows through and today is no exception. People are always ready to give, and what a great cause the Salvation Army is. All the benefits of all the programs that they do and how much it helps our community. We’re just glad to be a part of it,” said Chief Knott.
