APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A Green Bay Packers player is making a difference for those experiencing food insecurity.
Linebacker De’Vondre Campbell is once again partnering with Campbell’s soup for the Chunky Sacks Hunger initiative.
Campbell helped pack boxes at Feeding America of Northeast Wisconsin – Fox Valley Tuesday.
Campbell is working with other NFL defensive players across the league, called the Soup Squad, to donate over two million meals to people in need. For every Chunky Bowl sold during the regular NFL season, Chunky Sacks Hunger will donate one meal to Feeding America.
Campbell says it’s also part of his personal goal to volunteer at as many area food pantries as possible.
“It’s a sense of humility, just being able to know that it’s going to someone who really needs it,” Campbell said. “It warms my heart you know, because I have three kids myself and knowing that there’s people out there that don’t have basic human needs like food, it’s just heartbreaking, so being able to know that I can give back in any way that I can, is huge for me and a huge step in toward the right direction.”
Additionally, Chunky and De’Vondre Campbell will continue their support of Feeding America all season long by donating 1,000 Campbell’s products every time the Packers make a sack. So far, the Packers have made 19 sacks this season.
