GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – While 24-10 final score of the Packers game was disappointing to fans, it was an unforgettable experience for a U.S. Air Force Pilot.
High above Lambeau Field, it was a native of Northeast Wisconsin who helped get Packers fans pumped up for kickoff on Sunday, October 29th.
U.S. Air Force Captain Spencer Peot is a 2009 graduate of Bay Port High School.
Peot, who grew up a Packers fan, was at the controls of one of the F-35s that took part in the four-jet military flyover before the game.
“It all happens in a split second. So it’s real quick, but it’s very cool to see like the whole city the whole state congregating and how many people are here at Lambeau Field. It’s pretty awesome.”
Peot is an F-35 instructor pilot.
He earned a degree in aerospace engineering before joining the Air Force.
Peot and members of the 62nd Fighter squadron came all the way from Luke Air Force Base in Arizona.
Aside from the Flyover, the crew also helped “roll out the barrel” before the start of the fourth quarter.
Peot says he has lots of fond memories of cheering on the Packers.
“Growing up, a handful of games that I’ve been here,” said Peot. “And then, you know, the tailgating and mostly just getting together with family and friends every Sunday to watch the Packers, even when we’re not here at Lambeau. It’s always like a community experience no matter where you are.”
Sunday is a day Captain Peot will always remember.
“There’s only one place that is like this, for experience in the bowl,” said Peot. “It was pretty cool up in the air though, too.”
