WAUPACA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — No decision was made Monday on an appeal regarding the denial of a sand mine permit at the Iola Car Show grounds.
The car show and Faulks Brothers Construction proposed to excavate sand and gravel on over 30 total acres of land for parking lots. Organizers of the car show backed the project as another revenue source to add financial stability for the show. Some neighbors raised concerns about the project, citing environmental and noise issues. The county rejected the proposal in August. An appeal was heard Monday.
The Planning & Zoning Committee met for more than hour Monday, but wants to hear more information from Faulks Brothers before making a decision.
No date was immediately set for that hearing.
