City of Oshkosh
OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) — The City of Oshkosh is engaging with residents and creating an Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan.
Jim Collins, Transportation Director for the City of Oshkosh, says the City is currently working to address infrastructure needs and certain city codes regarding electric vehicle charging stations.
Oshkosh residents are encouraged to take the Electric Vehicle Readiness Community Survey to help the City form the Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan. The survey will ask residents about what factors they may consider when deciding weather or not to purchase an electric vehicle, basic information on their transportation habits, their perceived advantages and disadvantages about electric vehicles, and more.
In addition to the survey, other efforts from the city to create the Electric Vehicle Readiness Plan include:
- Documenting the number of electric vehicles in the region and estimating growth into the future
- Identifying where public use electric vehicle charger are located
- Providing the public and electric vehicle stakeholders with information about electric vehicles, grant programs, etc.
Collins says the national interest for electric vehicles continues to grow. Locally in Oshkosh, “There is interest from people who currently own electric vehicles, there’s also interest from some businesses about how they can, and how the city can help them with plans to adopt electrical vehicle charging,” said Collins.
