GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The Green Bay Packers and Fleet Farm are getting ready to honor veterans and active military service members.
The team’s annual “Salute to Service” initiative is happening throughout the month of November.
The Packers launched “Salute to Service” on Tuesday.
“We’re proud to honor members of our military and veterans this November through our Salute to Service initiative,” said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy in a release. “We’re looking forward to partnering with Fleet Farm to recognize and thank the brave men and women of our armed forces who have sacrificed so much for our country.”
Fans and shoppers can also take part in the initiative at all Fleet Farm locations in Wisconsin from Nov. 1-11 by rounding up their purchases.
That money will benefit H.O.O.A.H. WI, a non profit that looks to end suicide among service members and veterans.
The Packers will match up to $10,000 of those donations to benefit H.O.O.A.H. WI’s programs.
From Oct. 30 to Nov. 5, the team will also hold Military Appreciation Week, which will include daily events to honor those who have served in the military.
The team’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Nov. 5 will be their Salute to Service game at Lambeau Field.
Players will wear special equipment featuring the NFL’s Salute to Service camp-ribbon decal.
Fans at the game will receive a Salute to Service paracord bracelet.
The game will also include a flyover featuring U.S. Air Force jets.
Businesses within the Lambeau Field Atrium will be offering discounts and promotions for veterans and military members.
The Packers Pro Shop will offer them 20% off on Veterans Day and 10% off throughout November.
