WAUPACA COUNTY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — An appeal has been filed regarding the denial of a sand mine permit at the Iola Car Show Grounds.
The car show and Faulks Brothers Construction proposed to excavate sand and gravel on over 30 total acres of land for parking lots. Organizers of the car show backed the project as another revenue source to add financial stability for the show. Some neighbors raised concerns about the project, citing environmental and noise issues.
The county rejected the proposal in August.
According to the agenda for the Oct. 30 Planning & Zoning Committee, it will “consider a motion for reconsideration of the denial of the application; and if passed, Committee deliberation and decision on the following application.”
The meeting is at 9 a.m. at the Courthouse, 811 Harding Street, Waupaca, Room LL42.
