DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Nearly a hundred local Girl Scouts explored careers in the trucking industry and STEM.
Paper Transport in De Pere teamed up with Michelin to host the “Trucks Are for Girls” event.
Girls from kindergarten up into high school had an opportunity to learn about different careers in trucking and STEM fields.
During the hands-on learning event, the girls heard from women in the industry about their careers and experiences.
Participants even sat in the driver’s seat, taking turns in a truck driving simulator.
“Trucks Are For Girls” is a way to inspire young minds to envision themselves as future leaders in an industry they might not have considered in the past.
Angela Lotito of Michelin said, “This event is so great for young girls because when you’re growing up you don’t always see other women in these roles and it’s a great opportunity for them to see other women doing something that they don’t always think a woman can do. And it really opens their mind growing up to all of the things that they can be.”
Not only were the girls introduced to exciting career opportunities but they also learned safety and responsibility around large trucks.
