SHAWANO, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Another $1,000 cash bond was set Monday, as Ann Retzlaff’s criminal cases continue to move closer to trial.
The legal issues for Retzlaff – the former owner of Annie’s Campground in Gresham – started with a May 2021 traffic stop, and additional charges for an April 20 arrest on warrants related to missed court appearances on the first charges. An additional bail jumping charge was filed after allegedly went to Michigan without permission.
When she didn’t appear in court in January, Marathon County Judge Michael Moran issued a nationwide arrest warrant for her arrest. She was arrested in August.
Monday was the initial appearance on the latest bail jumping cases, filed after the August arrest. She returns to court Wednesday for a preliminary hearing.
Besides the new cash bond, she has been unable to post $56,000 in cash bonds from the previous cases.
A Jan. 23 trial date is set on the original fleeing case.
Besides the Shawano County cases, Retzlaff faces charges in Sauk County for allegedly filing illegal liens against those involved in the foreclosure of the campground she used to own. A preliminary hearing is Thursday on that case.
She has routinely objected to the court’s jurisdiction, citing her claims of being a “sovereign citizen.”
Retzlaff was the owner of Annie’s Campground in Gresham, but it was sold at auction to satisfy mortgage and tax debts.
