GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The first 4th quarter comeback of his career comes in Jordan Love’s first regular season start at Lambeau Field as the Packers defeat the New Orleans Saint 18-17 this afternoon (Sunday).
Plagued by all sorts of miscues through the first 3 quarters the Packers trailed the Saints 17-0 going into the 4th quarter. But a stirring comeback led by Love and featuring a great catch from Romeo Doubs in the end zone and the Packers take the lead after the extra point, 18-17, with 2:56 to play.
The Saints took the following kickoff and got themselves within field goal range, but Blake Rupe’s 46 yard attempt goes wide with 1:05 left to play and the Packers run out the clock to get the victory.
The win leaves Green Bay with a record of 2 & 1, good for a first place tie in the NFC North.
It’s a quick turnaround as the Packers welcome the Detroit Lions, the team they’re tied with, into Lambeau Field for a Thursday night.
