ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A proposed hotel has been cut from five stories to four and added more on-site parking in an effort to meet complaints by neighbors.
Gridiron Entities wants to build a 100-room Cambria Hotel and Suites on the current site of the Asheville Square and Acts 1:8 offices on Oneida Street, a few blocks south of Lambeau Field.
At a recent meeting, some residents complained about the height of the proposed five-story building.
As a result, a revised Planned Unit Development (PUD) was submitted to the village, which will be reviewed Tuesday night by the Plan Commission.
“The requested PUD has been revised from a previous request of 70′ maximum height (5-story) to a reduced request of 58′ (4-story) maximum height based on neighbor input at the August 30, 2023 meeting and the Site Plan Review Committee action (recommended denial at 70′ on a 6-1 vote) on September 5, 2023. The previously proposed separate commercial uses have been removed to accommodate additional on-site parking. Although not part of the PUD request, a total of 127 parking spaces is identified on-site,” the submission states.
The hotel would include a first-floor restaurant, lobby, pool, fitness room, restrooms, laundry and utilities. The fourth-floor would include a hotel bar with a deck facing Oneida Street.
If the PUD is approved, the final site plans would be need approval by the Village Site Plan Review Committee, Planning Commission and Village Board.
The meeting is at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Village Hall.
