Kit from the Einstein Project.
GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) — Staff and volunteers with the Einstein Project in Green Bay put the final touches on nearly 400 science kits to be delivered to classrooms throughout Wisconsin.
The hands-on materials and curriculum inside the kits promote learning in science, technology, engineering and math.
“The materials in the kits give kids a hands-on opportunity to learn any science concept,” said Einstein Project executive director, Chad Janowski. “We have everything from earth and space, to life science, as well as the physical sciences.”
The Einstein Project was started over 30 years ago.
“Science and engineering professionals in the area recognized that our classrooms were not producing students they needed for the workforce,” said Janowski. “As a group, they organized and created the Einstein Project to inspire kids and try to find learning opportunities for science and engineering.”
Kits are available for students in grades K-8. Chase Ramsey, a warehouse supervisor for the Einstein Project and UW-Green Bay education major, says teachers can be creative with how they use the kits.
“They’re pretty flexible, so it’s not like you have to do it a certain way,” said Ramsey. “You can put your own spin on it and figure out what works best for your students.”
New this year, some schools are buying the kits rather than just leasing them. This order of kits will impact between 7,500 to 10,000 students in over 40 school districts throughout Wisconsin.
