APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Appleton fire crews responded to a fire Sunday afternoon in the attic of a duplex in the 600-block of North Morrison Street.
When crews arrived they found light smoke coming from the attic of the two-story duplex. Firefighters discovered a small fire in the attic of the second story, after pulling down part of the ceiling in order to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control within 15 minutes.
The unit has water damage and damage to the ceiling. The lower unit was unaffected. Both electricity to the entire building had to be shut off, making both units uninhabitable for the near future according to fire officials.
The fire is currently under investigation. Damage to the building is estimated at $15,000.
