GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ – WLUK) — Authorities say several people were taken into custody after after a drug bust at an east side Green Bay home.
Green Bay police say multiple people are under arrest as part of a drug investigation.
Police served a search warrant in the 800 block of S. Baird Street Friday morning.
Names have not yet been released, but according to jail records from Brown County, one potential suspect is known for writing books on manufacturing methamphetamine and explosives.
Teams in hazmat suits, buckets, and bottles filled with substances were all seen outside of the home, which was identified as 826 S. Baird Street.
“We moved in about four years ago and it’s just been, it’s a very active house,” said Nicole Vanderheyden, a neighbor. “A lot of strange people coming and going, not all the same people coming and going all the time.”
An author known as “Uncle Fester” who has written books on how to make methamphetamines, was one of several people arrested after a search of his Green Bay home Friday. Brown County jail records identify him as Stephen Preisler.
His address in jail records and in Brown County land records match the address where Friday’s police activity was.
“Cops are there, I would say every other week so it is a constant,” said Vanderheyden. “I do work from home so I was sitting in my office and could see something going on outside and then I did hear the cops were telling people to come out of the house and have their hands up.”
Preisler attended Marquette University with a degree in Chemistry and Biology. He’s known for writing books regarding manufacturing drugs and other chemicals under the author pen-name “Uncle Fester.”
“The neighbor next door to the house that they’re currently, the police are working on, had come over within the last couple of months to kind of talk to us about that, that the community might start getting involved in reporting that activity going on there,” said Vanderheyden.
In a 2009 interview with WITI-TV, Preisler said that he got the nickname “Uncle Fester” from his college years.
He told WITI he was very well known for making explosives and blowing things up like the character in The Addams Family.
“Not really sure, you know, what to think because it’s a lot of different faces and cars and we want to be safe and we don’t feel safe that way,” said Vanderheyden.
According to Wisconsin court records, Preisler was previously charged with distributing a controlled substance back in 1981.
He was booked into jail Friday on charges of meth manufacture and maintaining a drug trafficking place. No formal charges have been filed yet. That is to be determined by the District Attorney’s office.
Authorities have not directly linked him to the investigation, however, records do show he was arrested from 826 S. Baird Street Friday.
Deputies say the area is safe however it will be closed to traffic while authorities remain on scene.
The 800 block of S. Baird Street is closed to traffic from Porlier Street to Lawe Street. Local residents will be assisted by law enforcement to get to and from their homes.
No other details on the investigation were released.
An update will be sent when S. Baird Street reopens to traffic.
