KAUKAUNA, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — A single family residential home on West 6th street in Kaukauna was damaged by a fire at around 10:30 p.m. on July 7.
The home was reported to be engulfed in fire with heavy smoke coming from the rear of the garage.
The Kaukauna Fire Department says a neighbor called 911 when she heard popping and booming noises and saw her neighbor’s garage on fire.
Residents of the home were asleep during the incident, but smoke alarms alerted the residents of the home and they were able to safely evacuate prior to the arrival of the fire crews.
The firefighters were able to limit the damage to the living area of the home, but the garage was considered a total loss, authorities report.
A car parked in the driveway also sustained damage.
The estimated damage to the home and vehicle are around $100,000.
Authorities say the cause of the fire was from faulty wiring in the breaker panel inside the garage.
