GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – With less than a week until the annual Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer, the foundation that puts on the event presented over $150,000 worth of checks to nine cancer organizations.
On Monday, Jerry Parins and his team presented the checks that came from last year’s proceeds — from both the annual ride and other fundraising efforts.
And on Sunday, community members will be completing the 20th Cruise for Cancer through the streets of the Green Bay area. The ride, which lasts about 45 minutes, begins at the Vandervest Harley Davidson and then into Green Bay, De Pere and Ledgeview before returning to Green Bay.
And when the riders return home, they’re greeted by the community with a great celebration.
“And then we want the public to come out when we return,” said Parins. “We’ll be back here probably by quarter to one that day, and that’s when we start the tailgate party with food, music and such. We’ve got great raffle items, auction items, and it becomes really a tailgate party all for cancer. You know, we do well with it.”
Each year, the event honors several cancer families as well, making the day special for those battling cancer and their families.
