WATERTOWN, WI (WTAQ-WRN) — The FAA says two people aboard a light plane were killed when it crashed in at Brandt-Quirk Park in Watertown just after taking off from Watertown Municipal Airport Wednesday morning.
“When I was mowing the lawn I heard a loud boom and I saw a couple of wheels on the grass and there was a shoe on fire so that kind of was pretty nerve wracking,” said resident Brady Lessner. “There was also part of the engine that was on the field.”
The National Transportation Board said the aircraft was a Mooney M20R. It took off about 9 a.m. for a flight to Manitowish Waters.
